Related: About this forumDoes canned sweetened condensed milk go bad?
I don't use it often - maybe once every other year. I found a small can lurking in the cupboard today, and planned to use it in a Thai iced tea. It was the color I remembered - but it was more nearly solid than I was used to. Is it still usable? Or should I toss the remainder (tasted like sweet milk, just wouldn't liquedy)

(3,323 posts)A couple bucks for a new can when ya need it, is cheap compared to what bad food could do to your body.
Not to mention, the bills you could get if you had to visit ER for food poisoning.

(114,004 posts)Micrococcus luteus... It is an opportunistic organism that would not normally be pathogenic unless one has other factors diminishing the immune system, but it will destroy the quality of the milk. It is ubiquitous in nature and a spore-former--the latter can survive the flash heat of canning.
So while the big food poisoning organisms, including Bacillus and Clostridium spp are not so likely in properly canned condensed milk prepared in hygienic facilities, "if in doubt, throw it out" applies.

(56,831 posts)it is probably still "edible." sweetened, condensed milk is so full of sugar (a preservative), I doubt it could go bad if you tried. that is probably what solidified. easier to get a new can than ruining a recipe is my bet.
