Related: About this forumZatarain's mix is really good
As we are on a limited budget, we eat beans and rice sometimes. Usually canned red beans with Tony Chacheres seasoning . Served over rice.
I bought Zatarain's beans and rice mix, and will add smoked turkey sausage, $3.29 a pound, browned in our Foreman grill. The box of Zatarain's was on sale for $2.00.

(4,109 posts)Their Jambalaya mix is a great start to a mean batch. Roast chicken and the juices from it, Andouille sausage, onions, garlic, roasted red peppers all just a little burnt and tossed in for the last ten minutes of boiling. Yow!

(1,989 posts)Even if youre broke in a town with a crappy rural supermarket with convenience store high prices, a box of Zs and some random fixins will do well. My favorites are always sweet onion and some kind of cheap spicy sausage. The rest is negotiable.
