My sister is visiting us for the weekend and she requested a French dinner.

To start, we have escargots in the traditional manner, sautéed in lots of garlic, minced onion and butter. We have those little serving dishes that have half a dozen hollows for the snails and sauce. They're easier to use and clean than the snail shells.

We have three beautiful sirloin filets that are marinating in olive oil, a dash of red wine, oregano, salt & pepper and garlic. I'll grill those babies to a pinkish medium rare.

I'm also grilling little red potato halves that are slathered with olive oil.

Miraculously, we still have a little bit of lettuce left in the green house so we'll have a green salad with red onion, orange mini tomatoes and French dressing.

French vanilla ice cream and French roast coffee for dessert.

But then again, anything sautéed in butter, garlic and onion can't be all bad!

Still too hot to turn on the oven, so I put them into the slow cooker earlier with some OJ, salt and garlic. (Usually I just buy BBQ sauce and put about a 1/3 of it in with country style ribs while they're cooking, drain and add the rest and allow to re-heat when they're done, but I use a different recipe for spare ribs, so I didn't buy any.) Going to whip up a homemade sauce here in just a bit.

Serving with sweet potatoes with butter and bleu cheese, haven't decided on the veg yet. Wait up...husband wants peas. What a surprise!

We had to make an unexpected run into town today and ran thru the Popeye's drive thru. I had a chicken sandwich (no sides or bev) around 1:30p, so I'm not hungry in the least. Knew that was going to happen, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity for a meal I didn't have to cook.

This is the recipe I normally use for spare or St. Louis ribs (sans liquid smoke), and it's really great!

To be honest as I can, the wake food was good. Mix of old Polish & Italian & Italian fusion. Some of my kin folk got kitchen talent.

made with leftover steak from earlier this week, chiles, tomatoes, onions, and cilantro, with guacamole on the side. Dessert is peach short cake, since I have peaches that need to be used up.
