the cheese, onion and beans. When I first started eating it when I still lived in OH, I didn't eat beans. When I moved to the southern plains, they didn't have Cinci chili of course, and my mom used to send me the seasoning mix packets. Then I just started making it on my own. Still no beans, but with the toppings I enjoy.

My (now deceased) husband lived in Cinti for years (attended law school there,) so he brought the item to our attention; I gave him a supply of the items for Christmas one year!

I always hear people saying that in OH, they put their chili over pasta, but it's really not even the same. The flavor is entirely different than regular chili since at least half of the ingredients aren't found in regular chili at all. It's really delicious.

My condolences on the passing of your husband.

I find when all the ingredients are properly balanced, I don't pick up the flavor of any one of them. They all sort of orchestrate to give it a unique flavor all its own.

Sis dropped off a care package on her way to work (she wanted to be helpful because she knows all about the vet bills). A one-pound bag of frozen shrimp was included--and a lemon.

So, I'm cooking up 1/2 of the shrimp, after marinating it in garlic, lemon zest and pepper. I'll put it on skewers and brush it w/ some butter and then it will get a brief visit inside the oven.

pasta w/ creamy garlic sauce and green beans round out the meal.

Potage Crecy a la Briarde

Basically a potage more than soup with carrots, onion, potato, and thyme.

And it was good.

Around here, comparable to forgetting to put chocolate chips in the cookies :/

I had some, then seconds, did not realize they were missing until I covered it to put away.

The Ms wants to clean out the fridge. I'm usually not a big fan of most leftovers, but I have dozens of instant-ish noodle packs and lots of condiments, so I'll probably make a bowl of noodles with pickled vegetables, Zhenjiang vinegar, and god's own chili oil, lol. I could easily live on noodles! Slurp, slurp!
