Related: About this forumSo I bought a Hamilton Beach steamer, and only after the fact did I begin to
ask questions. The plastic lids and dish is suppose to be BPA free, but the counter to that argument is that plastic that is BPA free has another material that is even worse, as far as carcinogens go.
So, should I pack it up and return it?

*either the folding kind or solid kind

(7,683 posts)You can also get a set of pot, insert (solid) and cover that all fit together if you really get into steaming stuff

(10,136 posts)they take up a lot less space in the kitchen and can be used in pots of different sizes. Warning - after about 30 years the metal "flowers" on mine started falling off!

My own steamer is a Chinese bamboo steamer that fits into a small frypan if I'm using the wok for something else. It's 100% natural and the steamed bamboo smells great while the food is cooking.
