We did them Saturday and dumped one diced onion and two cans manwich and sweet banana peppers fellas requested it again for tonight was gonna try to duplicate my wife’s recipe yet I’ll just do manwich.

Fellas like cheese on theirs I just like bread butter pickles with my sandwiches.

It is just so satisfying. I like cheese on mine.

Also like it on a baked potato or a pile of mashed potatoes.

I haven't made it in awhile. My autistic son has stopped eating it, I think because the meat is more mashed up. I've tried cooking it in bigger chunks, but it didn't matter. The problem might be the messiness, but he wasn't interested in eating it with a fork, either.

It's been many years since I used Manwich, so I'm having trouble remembering.

Not criticizing it though. It's work making homemade chili, and you need several ingredients on hand before you can start it. So opening a can of the pre-made stuff will often sound a lot easier. Another way around that is to make a large double-batch of homemade chili when you have the time, and freeze it in small individual portions. That way you can thaw enough for one sandwich (or whatever) and leave the rest in the freezer for another day.

Here's my favorite way to use homemade chili (would also work for Manwich): chili & cheese baked potatoes. They're so easy and so good! You nuke your largish potato for 4 or 5 minutes, depending on the size of the potato. Let it cool for about a minute, then put it in a bowl and cut it open with an X. Use a fork to mash the potato inside the skin with butter/margarine, salt and pepper. Then spoon your chili (or Manwich) on top of potato - it's still cold from the refrigerator. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the chili. Put it back in the microwave for about 2 minutes. And voila! you've just created an entire meal in less than 10 minutes. Yum!

And the all important chili dog, though I don't eat hot dogs much anymore. I'd make an exception to this diet though...gladly.

I used manwich until a few years ago I wanted to make sloppy joes and realized I didn’t have any manwich in the pantry. Found this recipe and loved it: I sometimes add a little extra brown sugar, chili powder, Worcester and mustard to taste 😉

Wonderful husband did all the cooking and shopping for 30 years. With health challenges the last few years I’ve taken over. These sloppy joes (I substitute impossible or beyond meat ) are easy and delicious go to option that I make a lot of for left overs along with mini meatloafs made in a muffin tin w/ home made mash potatoes. I also have a delicious cottage pie recipe. 🙂

my first thought was that it was about Joe Biden and the misplaced documents found in his garage. Which, you must agree, was pretty sloppy.
