Busy morning in the kitchen

Last edited Sat Jun 17, 2023, 12:50 PM - Edit history (1)

I got my 4th Covid booster yesterday. Never sure if the booster will sideline me, so I plan 2 light days after the shot. I think you are supposed to avoid allergy meds, so instead of sorting and adding to my booth inventory, off to the kitchen.

I made bread dough. One loaf of bread, and 3 honey pecan cinnamon sweet rolls. I got a deal on eggs, and need to use them up. I made 4 deviled eggs. I have more than enough sweets for several days, but I'm planning to make a low-carb bread pudding (Monk Fruit sweetener, almond milk, heavy cream, minimum bread)

I'll make a small pot of chicken soup from leftovers, and then do up the dishes. Happy Saturday!

Here is a link to a picture of the lower carb honey pecan cinnamon sweet roll. I used Golden Monk fruit sweetener, and a tsp. of honey to sweeten each on. I had it with a cup tea sweetened with the Golden Monk Fruit. https://imgur.com/gallery/eUmFJJx

Got the sore arm, so kneading bread was good exercise. Pushing myself away from the table is also good exercise I don't usually have a bad reaction, but it is nice to be a big baby sometimes

the kitchen. Your post spurred me to make Babka. My recipe makes 3 loaves. I raise the dough outside here in Florida during the summer. Time to get going . . . Enjoy your food!

I admire that you make bread from scratch just for yourself.

I just got done cutting up 3 melons - watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew. Let me tell you that was a workout, the watermelon in particular was huge. Then I shredded a head of cabbage and 1/2 a carrot, rinsed it off, and put it in the fridge for tomorrow’s Cole slaw.

Now whenever I see a carrot, I am reminded of that stupid TV commercial…..

Good luck with your Covid booster. I hope no bad side effects!

Must get the ingredients and make some. Really glad cabbage has stayed fairly cheap.

I will cut a slice off one side of the melon. A flat spot makes it a little more stable for the rest of the cutting. I do that for onions, too. At least your wrestling match is over for now!

I seem to get fewer side effects with each booster—not even a sore arm last tim around.

I haven't had worse than a sore arm. I've seen posts on DU that people do okay one shot, worse on another. Nice to have a health break though
