I have a ripe avocado, so maybe avocado toast later, even though I understand it’s not trendy anymore.

I was feeling nostalgic this morning and remembering Sunday mornings 40 years ago. We would always to the donut place near our house and buy a dozen donuts and a Sunday newspaper that weighed about five pounds. Then we’d spread the paper across the kitchen table and have coffee and donuts for breakfast. I don’t eat donuts anymore, I can’t remember the last time I bought a physical newspaper, but I’m still having coffee.

I quit buying avocados. The stress of catching them at just the right time was too much for me (back of hand to head).

Anyway, that's what I had this morning: avocado toast with cherry tomatoes. I was a bit disappointed in the tomatoes. I should have sliced them and put olive oil, s & p on them. I use the packaged avocado from Aldi. They are little packages and one is enough for a slice of toast.

Next up is a small watermelon, for which I am using my melon ball tool. I like that much better than wrangling with a large melon and a knife.

I liked your Sunday morning recollection, too. I remember my dad would read us the cartoons: Dick Tracey, for one. Little Lulu.

I remember the smell of the newsprint as we would spread the paper out on the table, too.

I put the pie together yesterday, eggs, cheese, lots of vegs in a bread crumb crust. I heated a slice in the microwave, made a slice of toast, butter and everything bagel mix on top. Man, it was good!

And coffee

I'll have a bacon day later this week. Enjoy that!
