Breakfast Monday 11 September 2023.

Coffee.

I took my beloved dog for a long walk that morning cause I knew I had an appointment later that day and would be late getting home. He ran around the neighborhood park for a good while before we walked back home. The sky was very very blue and clear that morning.
Odd the things that I recall

I baked a loaf of bread Sat. Coffee

I remember calling my husband at work. His shift had just heard about the attack. I remember a few days later, when planes were allowed to fly again. I was outside when I heard a jet pass over. I cried.

Veggies and cottage cheese. Sliced tomato, basil, olive oil drizzled over the top. A couple miniature cucumbers, sweet pepper, gold.

9/11 memory: going up to the attic in my new neighbor's house and watching the tower come down around 10 a.m. My neighbor had come over to borrow my landline because she couldn't reach her spouse. He showed up later that evening overed in gray ash. I'll never forget the sight of him coming to my house to thank me for use of the phone and for spending a good part of the day with my then new friend.

And I have a Bruce Springsteen memory, too. Not long out of college, my boyfriend at the time and I decided to be concert promoters and we brought in Springsteen. I recall being backstage and watching him leap alcross the stage. It's like a picture in my mind that will never go away.

Little did I know that many, many decades later we'd be hearing about him canceling his performances due to illness.
