We're making Panettone

Even though there is a bakery we know of in San Francisco that makes a wonderful panettone that we’ve loved for years, and even though a large grocery store nearby has a display of at least a dozen different panettone from bakeries in Italy, France and the States, many of which I’d like to try and I’m sure are delicious, this year we’re going to make our own. To paraphrase President John F. Kennedy, we do this not because it will be easy, but because it will be hard. We’re already dealing with the issue of finding high quality versions of stuff like dried citron. (Ideas anyone?) We expect to try three or four recipes before settling on one, then another couple tries to get it perfect.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
