(12,254 posts)Greek ground lamb pie in crispy phyllo pastry. So good last night, I almost can't wait for dinner!

(146,218 posts)Phyllo doesn't stay frozen in my *freezer* so I never get to use it anymore.
And I love it.

(12,254 posts)for Christmas (!) and I thanked him and then we went out and bought a new MacBook. The pastry keeps unfrozen for quite a long time in the fridge. I had a few leaves left over and I'm going to cut up a couple of big peaches tonight and make a little dessert with the leftover pastry. Hope the chicken you were waiting for last night satisfied the hungries at your house(boat).

(146,218 posts)The chicken arrived, though not exactly what I had ordered (cut and fried, not roasted), but that's cool. We munched on it and I have plenty left to pull off the bones for tacos and chili, which is what I wanted.
He did pick up a brownie mix and has been working very hard today, so I am likely to treat him to that.
What I wouldn't do for a tub of ice cream, though!

(12,254 posts)Brownies and ice cream is a soothing dish to serve after a very hard day. He's sure to appreciate it and you are so good to think of his comfort. This was the first box of phyllo that I ever bought. I used half of it when I bought it last March and the leftovers from that lasted for about 6 weeks before I spotted it in the back of the fridge and made something out of it. Just pulled the second half out of the freezer on Monday so it could thaw for yesterday. I imagine it gets pretty humid living on a boat, though. Enjoy your chicken tacos!

(11,093 posts)Yesterday I bought one of the supermarket's hot roasted chickens ($6). There's about half left. So tonight I got some Zatarian's Dirty Rice Mix
and about a pound of pork for a couple of dollars.
Will grill the pork quickly, pull the remaining chicken, add it to the diry rice. Today's cost about $5.
Should do us; we always keep tortilla wraps in house so it will also be makings for a tasty burrito.

(146,218 posts)Spent the morning getting everything ready and headed out about noon.
Engine belt broke at about 12:30 and there was no wind.
DH put the temporary belt back on and we limped back to where we had started and redropped the anchor.
He's gone into town to try to find a belt.
I am advocating staying put for the night so I can make dinner (tacos) and watch the big dog on the TV, but he wants to still make the move.
He's the captain.

(106,886 posts)of Clinton's speech as you know well. And once you anchor, lots of comment here...
Not the same as live of course. I'm really looking forward to it. to you both.

(46,082 posts)Even though it's been overcast and cold outside. I can still fire up the mini-Weber. I think I'll sautee a piece of salmon to go with it.

(35,747 posts)Pork loin roast, which the resident culinary genius cut into cubes and made sauce. Potatoes and carrots, diced and in another type of sauce.
Salad was baby arugula in some kind of spicy, fruit dressing.
It's "after dinner" at my household and the men of the house are doing their various Clinton imitations as we await the Big Dog on TV. They're pretty good!
