This morning I was wondering what to do with the cabbage in the refrigerator and was considering making a cabbage and lentil soup with some pieces of ham and ham stock from the freezer.

Now I have this dish to consider. I'd have to use brats or andouille sausage, but I think they would be good for this.

I made a chopped salad because I had so many peppers and cukes and stuff from the garden to use up. My doggies LOOOOOOVE cabbage so I always give them bits and pieces, then I throw the core out into the yard and they gnaw on it for a while like it's a big ol' bone.
