Related: About this forumLast of the summer tomatoes: Roasted tomato basil soup
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/roasted-tomato-basil-soup-recipe/index.htmlI split the preparation into roasting the tomatoes and the rest.
It came out very well although I did take it one step further by pureeing the soup into smoothness as I didn't care for the gazpacho texture, but hey, that's me.
It makes 2+ quarts. If you can use any available chicken stock you've saved in the freezer, it's killer.

(20 posts)1. good recipe...we did the saem
my roommate and I grew a small garden this year, our first. We still have tomatoes, but its starting to end.
I roasted a few on our small grill and make a very fresh tasting soup last night!
We found this small baguette baking tray at Goodwill (heavy cast iron) and had fresh baked bread and roasted tomato soup for dinner. It was so incredibly delicious.
