Breakfast Sunday 26 January 2026

Later this morning I'm planning on making a Midwest style fry up. Potatoes, onions, over easy egg, bacon, broiled tomato and whole grain toast. Pot of hot tea.
The snow started really falling around 11, looks like there is about 3 inches in the yard.

Planning oatmeal with fruit (fresh pear and raspberries)

I slept through the storm's beginning. So far the snow is about four inches with small snow flakes coming down now. I'm not planning on going outside anytime soon.

Ducky was staring out his window when I had the outside lights on. He was letting out little woofs. No vehicles on the road or our lane so it is very quiet.

No tv signal this morning. DirecTV switched over to Internet feed. That means, when it's daylight, I have to clean the snow off the satellite antenna. Turned the porch light on, and the snow looks pretty deep.

Cher, when we left the casino I was thinking it wasn't that long ago we were stuck in a snowdrift. I had a casino security guard (who I like) come tell when it starts snowing. Good thing, because it started snowing earlier than expected.

Guard friend!

The snow started about an hour ago. I was looking out the window at my bamboo forest when a big gust came in from the north and caused a white out.

Then three deer ran into the forest like they were ducking for cover!

They love the forest because it is so thick. It is like having a roof over their heads .

will herd up. It's not uncommon to see 20, 30 deer huddled together in a cornfield. My woods border alongside of farm fields, so I bet I have a lot of them in the woods right now. I have a couple salt blocks out in the woods for them. They watch me when I cut firewood and they don't seem to think of me as a threat. They're curious animals, I just wish they wouldn't eat all my corn, lol. 4 degrees outside, brrrr.

I wish I’d known about the salt block. What does that do for them?

11. Why Deer Need Salt & Minerals

Dietary Supplement: Deer naturally seek out salt licks to get minerals missing from their forage, especially in spring.
Health & Growth: Essential minerals aid bone and muscle development, antler growth, and overall herd wellness.

They're heavy though, so if you go that way use a wheelbarrow. I use my little tractor. I think you can find lighter salt blocks, but they are more expensive.

Then when I get home, I will just roll it down the ravine. They'll find it!
