(114,681 posts)Even the grocery stores sell several locally-produced brands, and surprisingly, I'm told, even Sam's Club does.
Local is best because you benefit from some immune-producing response to local pollens, especially if you experience hay fever.

(60,175 posts)also iherb.com offers honey, price is pretty high but shipping is free over 40.00 worth of orders.
Local markets are usually stocked from early summer to fall, I set aside a bit of cash to buy several jars at a time.

(195 posts)and I can tell you that every state has a state-wide beekeeping association. Its website will probably list all of the local beekeeping groups within that state, and by contacting the closest local organization you can find a local beekeeper to supply your honey. This way, you can choose to support someone who takes good care of his or her bees. As far as I know, beekeepers in all states must have a license, but that alone is no indication of how the bees are managed by a particular individual so get to know the beekeeper and ask questions.

(55,981 posts)There's a strong association of bee keepers in my area. From large operations to smaller ones.

(34,189 posts)Direct from the beekeepers when possible. If not, I get it from the local coop that buys from local beekeepers.
After eating tupelo honey, no other honey tastes right.
