Haven't seen them for awhile, though they only live 8 blocks away. The person cooking tonight once owned her own gourmet specialty food shop with an accent on whole foods.

They travel a good deal, collect interesting wines, and we always have plenty to talk about.

I might turn it into a pasta dish. Maybe add some tomato sauce and red wine.

We used to love to take turns at the handle. I did the cheaters method... using the blender and no eggs. Also added at the urging of Maddie some choc. chips.

Those new fangled things are for weaklings, lol!

And chocolate chips in my strawberry ice cream. No thanks, but this is Maddie's treat.

Tried to convince her she could add them after it was frozen or just use choc syrup but gave up after she reminded me how much I love strawberries dipped in chocolate.

6. I am cleaning the kitchen of the person I am staying with

and I fully expect him to take me out to dinner when he sees it!

He is a good, even great, cook. But housekeeping? Not so much.

His kitchen is filthy. I don't even want to make a cup of tea in there.

So I am cleaning...

and cleaning....

and cleaning.

It's gross, but the change is starting to become apparent.

Nice evening to all my C & B friends!

Normally the only day I will make it or any other fried item is Tues because Candy and crew come on Wed am. . No matter now hard I try, even with the splatter screen the oil goes everywhere. I wish they made a huge actifry so I could do in there.

I know what you mean about fried chicken mess.

I have a dilemma. I didn't much care about my old range top, as it had become essentially uncleanable. But now, with the new one, I think I will most likely avoid all kinds of frying.

13. My range top is black and it still looks a mess unless I spend about an hour on it

And when I had stainless it was worse.

I am going to try frying until the right color and crispness then transfer it to the oven to finish instead of in the skillet. The cast iron skillet gets it to the right color pretty quick but then I have to turn the heat down a bit to cook to the right temp. Also just read to soak in ice water for an hour plus so the chicken doesn't absorb the oil...not sure it works but it i worth a try.

Not that any of that will help with the mess except it will be a shorter time splattering oil everywhere.
