My Spicy Peach Butter Won First Place at the Fair!

Yay me! My Savory Salsa won Second Place which is pretty good for a gringa competing against all those Mexican women who have been making salsa since forever. The Mango Jelly didn't win anything this year but both Macramé Bracelets won second place in their respective divisions (Jewelry and Macramé). Made a whole $22.00.

I added cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. I was able to get seconds straight from the farmer and picked that morning. That makes a BIG difference.

Mmmm, I'd love to try that. Is it like apple butter?

Do you have pictures of your macramé bracelets?

but, of course, made with peaches.

Yes, I do have pictures of the macramé bracelets but the pictures are on my iPhone and I have yet to figure out;
a) how to get pictures off my iphone and
b) post pictures on DU

Remember, this is in the Home Canning category.

Salsa Recipe for Canning

8 cups tomatoes, peeled, chopped and drained (about 12 FRESH tomatoes)
2-1/2 cups chopped onion
1-1/2 cups chopped FRESH green peppers
3-5 chopped peppers (depending on how hot you want it -- jalapenos would be the mildest. I used Fresno Chilis)
6 cloves minced garlic
2 tsp cumin
2 tsp pepper
1/8 cup canning salt (Kosher salt is fine -- just so it isn't iodized)
1/4 cup chopped FRESH cilantro
1/3 cup sugar
16 oz. tomato sauce
16 oz. tomato paste

Mix all ingredients, bring to a boil, boil 10 minutes. Pour into hot jars, process at 10 lbs of pressure for 30 minutes for pints.

Makes 6 pints.
