No, it isn't red beans and rice for me, which is totally different. I was in the mood for barbecued chicken this morning, so I threw some boneless chicken thighs, barbecue sauce and vegetable stock into the crockpot before I left for work.
What's going to be on your plate tonight?
Also, this is a new recipe, I have no idea how it is going to turn out!
EDIT: P.S. I'm not a host in this group and I apologize if I overstepped by starting a WFD thread, but there wasn't one already.

(9,612 posts)Diced four boneless chicken breasts in a crockpot with half a diced onion, six slices black olives, oregano, parsley, thyme, four cloves of garlic, and 16 oz of tomato sauce.
Cooking now, will see how it comes out

(39,961 posts)how freaking wonderful thyme is in ... just about everything. It is savory, pungent, and all the good spices rolled into one - on steroids. It's like having oregano, basil and rosemary to make a dish taste like herb heaven without over powering it with too much of all of them needed to make the same taste as thyme. It's officially my favorite herb.

(9,791 posts)It's great in cream soups especially New England clam chowder.

... lots of butter, garlic and a little cayenne pepper.

A small bowl of Talenti Double Dark Chocolate Gelato (that would be enough in itself).

(39,961 posts)I'm not much for garlic bread (I don't want anything filling me up before I can get to the good stuff) or sweets so the rest is lost on me LOL.

I love sriracha in my meatloaf! It's the secret ingredient!

Oh wait, 4.

(106,886 posts)I love it yet have never made it. So a trial run. Most are too bland for me, so I can kick it up a bit if I do it myself.
Diced BBQ chicken, chopped
Corn, kernels
Carrots, chopped
Potatoes, chopped
Green beans, chopped
Mushroom cream soup, low salt
Serranos, diced
Cumin

(39,961 posts)That rocks! I hope yours turns out well, as I hope mine does, too. It's fun to try new recipes, and the anticipation of whether or not they work.
EDIT: and Mmmm, serranos. I love them second to only tabasco peppers

(22,693 posts)Made th dough from scratch. Probably top it with ham and carmelized onions.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)is caramelized onions. There isn't really any main course you can't add them to without making it better, a sandwich that won't get upgraded to gourmet, or pasta that rocks the house.
How do you make your dough, bif, if you would share your recipe? And what kind of cheese? I LOVE seeing good homemade pizza recipes . Ham and onions with cheese are fantastic together.
bif
(22,693 posts)For the dough, I start with a cup of warm water, a tablespoon of sugar and a teaspoon of yeast. I proof it for about an hour. Then I add a bunch of flour and kneed it for about 5 minutes. I put it into a big metal bowl and cover it with a plastic plate. After about an hour or so, I punch it down, then roll it out and put it on a floured pizza pan.
As far as cheese, I use quattro formaggio blend from Kroger's or Trader Joe's. Way better than mozzarella. Or grated provolone is excellent too!
Check out my blog. I think I''ve posted my pizza recipe.

(146,218 posts)We are going to have some leftovers from our lunch yesterday.
They served us huge portions at ridiculously low prices.
So I have some fat chicken quesadillas and half of a smothered beef burrito.
I'll probably just grate some good cheese on burrito and stick the whole thing in the oven for a bit.
Another beautiful day in Mexico. I don't think I'm ever going to want to leave.
Lucky you, cher! Fat chicken quesadillas on the ocean, and smothered burritos. I wouldn't want to leave, either!

(9,791 posts)It was a crazy day and I had a bunch of things that needed doing. It was fast, easy and we like it.

(39,961 posts)is beanie wienie? I've heard people refer to it, but I have no idea what it is. Is it a Northern thing?
Lugnut
(9,791 posts)It's hot dogs chopped up in baked beans and heated through.

(9,819 posts)South, it's Beenie Weenie!!!

(9,819 posts)thing. Franks & beans! Sliced hotdogs in baked beans! Sometimes served on toast or cheese toast! It's a great go-to dinner for those times when you can't think of anything else. Serve with mustard of choice!
Franks and beans. I've never heard it called "Beanie Weinie" or anything like that, LOL. Hell we make red beans and rice with boudin here, which I guess is kind of like beans and "weiners".
I love red beans and rice with smoked sausage. We have that fairly often around here. Good stuff!

(9,819 posts)home and there's no dinner prepared. If you don't believe it, just watch an episode of Seinfeld. It is also great for a revenge dinner. One of my former co-workers (who had a hateful husband) used to say after hanging up from a tense phone conversation with her spouse, "well, I think we'll just have cereal for supper tonight."
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)i don't get home from work until 1130 or midnight and i never feel like cooking. so it's cereal and bagels most work nights.
