The RG is creating pasta for 50 for an event on Friday (business). He's taken over the top half of a refrigerator. I will be happy with a few crumbs!

(146,218 posts)We went out for lunch today to a tiny restaurant in a tiny town. We were served by a woman who appeared to be close to 70, who I think makes all of the food.
We had two pastas. The first was a fettuccine with a simple, but delicious porcini mushroom sauce. The second was home made ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta and served with a butter/sage sauce. The woman serving us left the restaurant to go and retrieve the fresh sage. Perfect.
Then we stopped for a gelato on the way home.
Tonight I am going to fry up the risotto balls I made a few weeks ago and froze. We will have this with a caprese with burratta cheese.
We were just talking about how food centric this country is, and I am one of the luckiest people on earth.

(9,823 posts)postings from Italy. It might be a relief for the rest of us here in the US when you get back! Seriously, tho, enjoy your last few days! How will you ever cope with Kroger again?
Edit to add: Kroger, in my little redneck corner of the world, is the creme de la creme!
Yes, it is! It is, as you know, considered the top culinary country in the world, along with France.
I don't know what his pastas are! I'll know more by Friday.

(2,016 posts)probably in butter and olive oil. Roasted garlic mashed spuds. I really wanted roasted asparagus with reggiano, but the asparagus looked 'weak' at the market. So, instead, I'll roast some Mexican squash with tomatoes, topped with reggiano.

Finally got the housemate to agree that we can take down the 50 to 60 year old maple out front, since the roots invaded the sewer line again. Plus, she was finally starting to worry about pieces dying and falling on the house in storms. We're looking to replace it with a smaller 'tricolour beech'.
(somebody else's pic of the foliage of same.)
