Went to Costco yesterday for one or two things...

but ended up spending over a hundred bucks. As usual when I go to that place.

Two of the things I didn't expect to get were large bags of frozen fishsticks and breaded tilapia. Fried some up last night and they were pretty good. I dread going back and getting the frozen salmon I had the willpower to pass up yesterday.

They were good democrats, but apparently the board traded parties for some law. Hope they go back to being dems, I need places to shop.

storage space on the boat, particularly freezer space.

Costco makes my head hurt.

Enjoy your fish!

Might as well just get a buggy at the front door every time and you'll save yourself trips going back.

I grill it indoors on the stovetop griller thingie and it's out of this world.

Costco is about the only place i'll eat frozen fish. They flash freeze it on the boat and they don't pump a bunch of water into it to fudge the weight. Anyone else packs it, I have to wring it out before I cook it.

I also recommend the halibut. Steer clear of most of the shrimp, it's farmed shrimp grown in the worst polluted water in the Mekong Delta I'm old so it won't kill me. I would never feed it to kids.

ETA: the only time I get out of there for less than $100 is when my back is so bad I can barely toddle to the prescription counter and back.

blinders except for anything on my list. Focus. Don't go down any aisle if it's not on the list. Don't hover in the housewares or vitamins. Don't take spouse (he lurks in the wine section $$$$$).

I got four things the other day. Who hoo!

when I find a product at Costco I like they discontinue it (I still miss those banh mi). We go every few months for whole chickens, bags of limes, maybe fish, but with just two of use we have to be careful not to overbuy.

After reading several articles about Asian farm raised seafood I will never buy/eat it.

the tilapia they don't say, but do mention "...the best feed..." so they're farmed somewhere.

Fresh fish I rarely buy, but in the supermarkets "China farm-raised" or "Vietnam farm-raised" do kinda jump out at you, and often that's all there is. Did I say I rarely buy I rarely buy fresh fish?

(I don't really buy frozen all that much, either-- between mercury and the collapsing fisheries, it just doesn't seem right any more.)
