(146,218 posts)the fridge.
We had figs and prosciutto for starters.
Then a cacio e pepe. It was delicious but the cheese got a little lumpy which was a disappointment.
A salad of the greens I have been growing with some fresh bread and gorgonzola.
Then naps all the way around!
We are going to be a cheese binge for the next 24 hours, as that is what I seem to have the most of!

(146,218 posts)Since I only recognize about 3 bands from the lineup, I am feeling very, very old.

(24,146 posts)i couldn't not go see the cure. husband said we're too old for this, but if robert smith can drag his happy ass onto the stage for a nearly three-hours show at altitude, we can go see them.
and i don't know a lot of the bands, either, so don't feel too bad

(35,669 posts)The RG left me with some beautiful rosemary ham and also at least a serving of cannellinis. I'm making up a beautiful salad right now with all kinds of colorful ingredients--orange pepper, tomatoes, radishes, and even avocado.
Earlier in the day, the RG finished up his pasta cooking for his meeting. I took pics of some of the more interesting things he did:
I asked him what this was, and he said "Pasta_Bundt!" So pasta in a bundt pan.
This is how it looks when taken out of the bundt pan. He explained that he will pour sauce in the middle.

and this is a side view. It's made with angel hair pasta.
Then there's this, which I think he said is a pistaccio? (sp?):

This will look nice when he takes it out of the terracotta pan. I saw the design he made on top. You can see how the pasta is arranged around the edges.
There are more spectacular pasta displays he made, too, but they weren't assembled here so I couldn't take pics. One is a roast surrounded by pasta.
I posted those because I mentioned his efforts earlier in the week. From this huge cooking extravaganza, I have lots of goodies: ricotta cheese, parmesan, tomato sauces, creme fraiche, heavy cream. Even new cooking spoons and a couple new stainless steel bowls!

(14,733 posts)We don't actually have a lot of variety in what we eat if we're not scrounging. Maybe a couple of dozen meals that rotate in and out, some seasonally. We've got chicken thawing atm, so maybe tomorrow will be a casserole.

(22,702 posts)We're going to this cozy little Italian restaurant with our two daughters. Then maybe hit the jazz bar across the street after.

(16,334 posts)that last month we decided it might be easier for everyone if we each brought something and the host just provided the drinks. Host thought it was odd that people kept emailing her telling her what they were bringing! Now we'll have everything she's made AND what everyone else brings.
Book, what book?
