Does anyone have a good recipe sub for 7 Seas Creamy Italian dressing?

Here's the thing. I used to make a dish called Chicken Narragansett. The trick was to marinate the chicken, usually breasts, in the creamy dressing. 7 Seas was bought out by Kraft who discont. the product. Like most Kraft dressings, theirs is slop.

So wondering if anyone else has tried to make their own.

I havent tried it though...

Seven Seas Creamy Italian Dressing Copycat Recipe:

1/2- Teaspoon of each of the following:
Dried Mustard & Regular Bottled Mustard
1 or 2 Tablespoons White Vinegar
2-Cups Miracle Whip or Miracle Whip Light
3/4-Cup Italian Oil Dressing (Any Brand)
1/4-Cup Water
1-Tablespoon of each of the following:
Dried Onion Flakes, Onion Powder and Lemon Juice
1-Teaspoon of each of the following:
Italian Seasoning & Cavender Salt

Beat all of the above in a mixing bowl until smooth.
Pour into jars & refrigerate for at least two hours before using.
Favor is best if refrigerated overnight.

4. I think it may be referring to Cavender's Greek Seasoning.

It's available at most grocery stores in the spice section. I use it when I grill steaks.

The dressings are all good and I'd use nothing else for a bottled Italian oil & vinegar.

All the big brands taste like latex paint to me. I'd rather eat a salad plain than use them, although a sprinkle of garlic salt does wonders.

9. I do use the Newmans brand b/c of the olive oil. But I haven't seen a creamy Italian in Newmans.

5. Kraft still makes "Creamy Italian" and it's pretty damn close.

Add a little black pepper and you won't know the difference.

10. You have to add the freshly cracked black pepper. Mix in a little sour cream to get closer.

I won't buy a dressing that has more than 1 g sugar. Most bottled dressings are 2 or 3 g. I just don't like sweet dressings.

If you are lucky enough to live in a city that has a Kroger grocery store. Kroger's store brand creamy Italian dressing is exactly the same as the original Seven Sea's. Creamy Italian has ALWAYS been my favorite / only dressing and it is a exact match. I don't know if Seven Sea's just put Kroger's label on the bottle or if Kroger actually has someone co-pack it for them, but at $2.50 a bottle its a deal. My fear is that Kroger will run out and that will be the end of Creamy Italian. I do not understand why Kraft choose to get rid of Creamy Italian, they make many other horrible dressings that could have been deleted from their product line.

As for copycat recipes I have tried the ones with mayo and its not even close. I will continue to make different dressings until I find one that works. Then I will post it.
