Mollie Katzen recipe.

Totally love this dish; have been making it for years. In fact, it is one of the first things I ever made for the RG. He loved it! Of course, he always had to put his touch to it, which was to add ground pork or chicken, also cilantro, but I'm making it as a straight vegetarian dish tonight. I will put in the cilantro.

An aside: The first dish I ever invited him over for was Chicken Puttanesca. I found the recipe in the NY Times. He liked it and I was so proud of myself. I kept making the dish for him, and finally, one day he asked me if I knew what Chicken "Puttanesca" meant. I said no and he responded, it's "Whore's Chicken."

Not that it mattered! It was still a good dish, regardless of the name.

I was wondering if it was because of the anchovies.

I also wonder if the thumpers here in the bible belt know they are buying whore's sauce when they buy jars of it at the grocery.

Tonight we will have a rotisserie chicken and the sides it came with. That way we will have chicken for sandwiches and such while underway.

Not sure that I will have any internet access, but might if we get close to a cel tower.

Will most likely be back around in about a week.

Everyone stay safe and have fun!

Probably was a good idea to keep to something simple tonight and just rest, let it heal, I suppose.

I did want to make carne asada tacos, but I don't have any tortillas. Oh well. Other than that, I'll just pick through the fridge for what needs to be eaten immediately, and make a salad out of it.

Edit: I just realized I have crunchy taco shells in the pantry - for when I run out of fresh tortillas. So, tacos it is!

Always good to have a few back ups in place, no? Glad it worked out close enough to what you were hankering for.

My fav thing to do with leftover steak, since we eat it medium rare and steak really doesn't reheat well anyway, is to slice it sort of thinly and saute with onions and mushrooms in butter, Worcestershire sauce, and a good bit of garlic. Ready to serve in any number of tasty ways from there.

That sounds like a really delicious, light and refreshing dinner, fizz. Bonus points for little fuss and mess. (Also for salami! Love, love, love me some good salami!)
