What's for Dinner, Sun., May 8, 2016

I'm making meatloaf from my Meatloaf Bakery cookbook; the recipe is called the "Mother Loaf." The writer also has a recipe called the Father Loaf and there's also this one, the Mother Loaf. It has lots of veggies in it. I've made it before and it's very good.

To go with it, broccoli and cauliflower. Maybe a bruised kale salad with blueberries.

Last night's dinner party was fun.The hostess served crab cakes with chopped mango/grape/peppers (and some other ingredients I can't recall). Edamame. Some kind of salad with dill in it, and it was so good I'm asking for the recipe. There were appetizers, which were sliced salami with mustard, guacamole and chips, and shrimp sushi.

Dessert was chocolate cake.

Any kind of drink you wanted, but I just sipped water and later had some wine with the crab cakes.

Lasted until 2:30 a.m.!

I put a little too much cayenne in the pesto, so it was spicier than the sausage. But, still good.

Steamed lobster tails and grilled ribeye steaks. Steamed broccoli, baked potatoes, and lemon sponge custard. Luxurious but easy and delish.

the Saturday thread.

The church that my brother is a member of was doing a fundraising event. A group of members made chocolate dipped strawberries and boxed them for sale. My brother bought 2 boxes and brought them to lunch. Unfortunately, all of the strawberries had grey, fuzzy mold growing on them. Not a pleasant sight and my brother was embarrassed. I hope they will re-think their fundraising efforts for next year.
