Mason Jar Iced Tea

Take one saucepan as small and beat up as possible. Fill pan with water, put it on the fire, and let it come to a good boil. Throw in 5 or 6 tea bags. Lay an old cracked saucer on the pan and turn off the heat. It may boil some, but that just makes the tea taste better. Let it stand about 30 minutes or until cool.

Squeeze the tea bags out and throw them away. Pour tea into a glass pitcher half-filled with water. Sweeten with sugar to taste. Add more water, but not too much, as you want to make a good strong tea. Take a Mason jar (a peanut butter or mayonnaise jar will work, too) and pack it full of ice cubes. Pour the tea over the ice. Shake it sideways a few times to get it good and cold. Nothin’ like it.

Just like mom did it, but she added some mint leaves just before shaking. Good stuff. n/t Yonnie3 Sep 2017 #1
