I visited the Alaska state fair Friday.
Didnt even get a corn dog because the fair food was so eclectic! I had food that I havent seen offered at fairs I have been to in the past. Made the experience all the better.
I found oysters on the half shell from the Prince William Sound (really excellent quality) and Crab cakes too. Sooo freaking good. Also had a salmon quesadilla!! Wth?
Was fabulous!
Favorite Fair food?? Sound off!

(2,673 posts)Some gut wrenching foods at upcoming Texas State Fair as described in the Dallas Morning News. And I truly mean that if you eat them, they will make your gut wrench. How about Deep Fried Shepard's Pie and Cotton Candy Taco to name a few of the more digestible ones.
Just give me a Fletcher's corn dog smeared with good old yellow mustard and a Dr. Pepper with lots of ice.
I once won a ribbon at the Alaska State Fair.

Yes. A corn dog is usually the one thing I have to have. Mustard only please.
I didnt even miss it and didnt want samples of other stuff being offered because the oyster flavor would go away. Great briney taste.

(14,889 posts)This is the first time that I've been at my state fair, and wanted to try some new foods. Both of the selections below were scrumptious. And yes, I shared!
Deep Fried Turducken on a stick
A southern classic & a John Madden Football Favorite to the State Fair! We took the mighty TurDucken made it mobile & On-a-Stick! Fresh roast turkey, duck confit & fried chicken breast layered with homemade stuffing and gravy, battered and On-a-Stick. The TurDucken is then drizzled with WSB Amber beer gravy and Wisconsin cranberry sauce. At Water Street Brewery.
PorkSTACKular
1/3 lb. of 100% pork belly patty perfection, stacked high with crispy, smoky, bacon and deep-fried pickle fries, covered in gooey melted Swiss cheese, drizzled with delectable sweet nspicy hot honey, served on a buttermilk caramelized-onion naan bread bun.
I would order both of those!
