The RG finally messed up a meal. Not bad for 25 years of no fiascos.
He made a roast beef which he paid a small fortune for from WF. Roasted it in the oven. I told him the slow cooker was the way to go. Never listens to me. Turned out tough, so the 20-some-+$ roast beef is now in the slow cooker. For that kind of money, it should have been tender; at least that's what I think.
Then he made a salad with mixed greens from my garden. Put mango and red onion on it, as well as zucchini and some other vegetables. Too much onion. So we were trying to get the red onion out because it was too strong. He also put in Swiss chard, which was in the bag of mixed greens, and which IMHO should not be used as a salad ingredient.
So that ended our meal. No dessert, but I heated up an apple cider.
p.s. thanks, PJMcK, for posting on TG. I quit posting on holidays 'cuz I thought nobody ever responded, but numerous posters did respond, so that's great.

(22,052 posts)I'm visiting with my dad in Florida for Thanksgiving and went hog wild today, (sorry for the stupid pun).
THICK lean pork chops. Slice them open from the side creating a pocket. Fill the pocket with a mash of skinned apples with nutmeg and cinnamon then compress the chops from the top. Bake at 425º until the internal temperature is about 150º.
We had steamed broccoli and mashed cheesy potatoes as side dishes.
Dessert was the left-over pumpkin pie with ice cream.
I look forward to everyone's replies on NJCher's wonderful daily posts. Let's keep it up 'cause I love food!
