Cooking & Baking
Related: About this forumI love to feed people
Im having about a dozen people over today and have enough food lined up for about fifty. I caramelized six softball-sized sweet onions in the slow cooker overnight and added five pounds of frozen pierogies to them this morning. My InstantPot is full of kraut and sausage. I baked a peach slab pie last night. I have a cheese flight from Costco plus crackers. Veggies. Olives. Nuts. Grapes. Figs. Hummus. Salsa. Someone please stop me.

(2,291 posts)I suffer from the same disorder. Love to feed friends and family. Always way too much food. Wonder if there is a DMS IV code for this condition?

(15,405 posts)We need help. I have an utter inability to provide the correct amount of food. I knew a lady years ago who had the opposite problemshed invite people over for a BBQ and there would be, like, one hot dog allotted for each attendee. This wasnt a matter of money for her, more like some kind of weird eating disorder she inflicted on others.

(11,919 posts)my freezers are nearly always completely full of leftovers. But the best thing about that is I rarely have to eat crappy fast food or gas station food for lunch, I make lunch portions before I freeze things.

(32,265 posts)and any number of guys who willingly act as guinea pigs for new recipes. About once a month I fix breakfast for them. Other times I'll send takeout containers of soups and casseroles with the batchelors. It's just no fun cooking for one and many dishes are best made in large quantities..

(2,681 posts)I worked for a software firm and we had young employees. I usually made food in for lunch on the day before payday because the young employees were usually too broke to buy lunch. I'd make pimento cheese or tuna salad and take along a load of bread and a big bag of chips. My layered bean dip was a favorite..
I always say "Food is Love" When you cook for friends and family you are showing that you care about them.

(42,770 posts)How'd it go? Sounds great. Since I am Polish especially!
I am like you...I always cook.too much. When people complain when a fine restaurant puts less than usual on a plate..I admire the chef.
I think when I am preparing I subconsciously run through all the different flavors and textures in my head and think..oh, I need something like that...
