Wow. Green beans and basil.

Every year I buy bunches of green beans at the farmer's market and I saw this recipe and thought I'd give it a try. I also grow a big pot of basil every summer. This was really good.

1 pound fresh green beans, washed and trimmed
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
½ cup chopped fresh basil
2 teaspoons minced garlic
½ cup chicken broth

In a large fry pan, heat the oil over medium high heat. Add the green beans and the garlic and cook just until the garlic is fragrant and the beans start to blister (about 2 minutes). Add the chopped basil and stir to mix. Add the chicken broth and cook until the liquid absorbs and the bean are crisp tender (about 5-10 minutes).

You can use frozen green beans, substituting them for the fresh and thawing them a bit first.

The bean plants in my garden are still producing, so this recipe of yours is very timely!

I used to grow my own beans but for some reason they just don't want to survive in my soil now. So I buy them from my neighbors who have better luck.
