What's for Dinner, Sun., Sept. 22, 2019

Tossed vegetable salad that took me 30" to make. It's enough for two occasions, though, so I think it was worth the time. It has all kinds of crispy vegetables in it, like radishes and cauliflower. Then I added half a chopped apple and craisins. A little red onion, sliced peppers. Chinese noodles.

Chicken wings with sesame-orange glaze. A friend dropped off an order (people have been dropping by with food since my car has been in the garage since last Tues.). Yum! I have good friends.

Haven't figured dessert out yet.

We’re going to a private and secret screening of a new film and the theater is in southern Manhattan. So we went to a favorite joint and I had a spectacular chicken egg foo young.

I’ll let you know about the movie later!

One of our favorite Chinatown restaurants is Hop Kee on Mott Street. It's a hole-in-the-wall that you descend from street level into what appears to be just another joint. But their food is among the best! My chicken egg foo young was delicious and the portion was huge with a delicious brown sauce. The Landlady(!) had Cantonese clams that were beautifully presented with a mouth-watering flavor. The wait staff at Hop Kee is also among the best. The only downside is that meal was a tad expensive as the prices in NYC have been inching upwards of late.

Sadly, the film, written and directed by a friend and colleague, had a great story that was filled with great intentions but poorly produced and acted. That's all I'll write about it.

Some halved cherry tomatoes. I have a few brussels sprouts and small red potatoes that I need to finish off so I'll cut the potatoes into wedges and roast them with the brussels sprouts.

Your dinner sounds delicious! I'm not a fan of brussel sprouts but your concoction must have been yummy.

Apple pie with cheddar cheese. Berries. A group effort.
