For an appetizer, we're sharing a small bowl of bruschetta and toast.

For the dinner, we're using capellini noodles, one of my absolute favorites. The sauce is homemade consisting of fresh tomatoes, tomato paste, anchovies (left over from last night's pizza), four kinds of sliced olives, minced onion and a splash or two of chianti.

I made a big Caesar salad from scratch and prepped a loaf of real garlic bread.

For dessert, I picked up some Neapolitan ice cream.

From your mammoth dill?

I saved some from a dill plant; some I saved for replanting, some for cooking. I love the aroma of dill when I’m harvesting the seed.

with carrot, turnip, spinach, onions and shiitake mushrooms, topped with a fried egg of course. Veggies were good and something spicy on a chilly night hits the spot.

It's from a Thai cookbook I found.

Stir-fried onion & garlic in peanut and chili oils, add Thai red curry paste, then add the cauliflower florets and trimmed fresh green beans. Cook 3-4 minutes, then add 1/2 cup vegetable stock and a little soy sauce, simmer a few minutes.

Serve topped with toasted cashews and minced cilantro.

One head of cauliflower and a half pound of green beans made a good meatless main for 2, and would be easy to make a little more for a side for a group
