It's a Portuguese restaurant in the Ironbound for dinner. I'm thinking garlic shrimp, but they always have great specials, so I'll have to see what they are.
If they have orange cake, that's what I want for dessert.
on edit:
The RG had suckling pig but I had blackened swordfish. It was so spicy and crisp on the outside, yet tender on the inside--one of the best swordfish steaks I've had in a long time. The salad that went with it was potatoes, red pepper, black olives, and herbs.
For an appetizer we had a dozen clams, but for dessert, we had el serradura, "sawdust" dessert. It's called that because it is made with cookie crumbs and whipped cream.
We barely had half our dinners, so plenty of leftovers for the coming week.

(22,035 posts)The Landlady(!) is rehearsing for a production of The Nutcracker and I offered to take her out afterwards. She said she has a craving for Indian food.
I think I feel like lamb Bhuna, aloo paratha, daal, rice and some kind of pickled fruit. I have no idea what the dancer has in mind.
Kingfisher beer, of course!

(38,555 posts)There is none nearby. We can't afford to eat out anyway.
I'm envious.

(22,035 posts)We usually cook at home because it's better and healthier and much less expensive! In fact, we play a game where we'll make a meal and then calculate how much it would have cost if we went out to eat in NYC. Making the meals ourselves seems to cost about 25% of what we would spend in a restaurant.
Indian food is delicious and easy to prepare if you have the right ingredients. Here's a link to some ideas that you might try sometime:

(5,657 posts)I have had these once as an appetizer at a restaurant.
One of my friends is coming over with the flour and we will make them here.
Yesterday I made chicken and broth in the instant pot to cook noodles in to go on the side. Not sure what kind of noodles yet. Gonna get those at the asian market soon. Whatever is fresh!

I think I'm about turkey-ed out.
Someone said "cake."
