(1,579 posts)grandmother. Use it several times a week. By the way, washing does not mean putting them in a dishwasher. I wipe mine out as best I can, and use a damp paper towel if necessary. Then put the skillet on a hot stove top burner to dry, while rubbing a bit of oil into it.

(8,027 posts)I would keep my mothers cast iron skillets over my $12,000(?) Corningware casserole dish.
My Mom has her Grandmother's cast iron Dutch oven which is 120 years old. She got it when she married on 1/01/1900. I have my other Great Grandmothers cat iron griddle and skillets. That griddle is over 100 years old too. I use one of the skillets for cornbread only. Yum.

OTOH...
When did sweet tea become a thang/thing?
I'm 78.
Grew up in Birmingham.
The one in Alabama.
We did not have sweet tea.
We had iced tea.
(Not 'ice tea')
If you wanted sweet there was a sugar bowl on the table and each cutlery place setting had a long handled spoon that was there JUST to try and stir up the sugar you'd put into your tea.
