New England cod from our Raleigh fish dude, frozen, made the trip west with us. Yes, we are 4 hours west of Raleigh now.

Sauteed farm-raised trout with capers and white wine.

Wild rice and a large salad with tons of "du jours," (a story for another time): A base of Romaine lettuce topped with sliced cucumber, cherry tomatoes, thin slices of celery, thinly sliced red onion, sliced green and black olives, sliced carrots, pieces of avocado with coarsely grated Asiago cheese over the whole thing. We made a very light honey mustard dressing using the last of our garden-fresh herbs.

We bought a fresh baguette but forgot to get butter! Fortunately, we had a jar of ghee (Indian clarified butter) and that saved the day. Here's an interesting article about this (mostly) Asian butter:

We had the neighbors over for dinner a couple of nights ago and there were lots of desserts still left over. I had half a slice of cheesecake, (don't tell my cardiologist!), and the Landlady(!) had the chocolate cake.

w/ tomato & meat sauce

Al's son is cooking for his family and decided to make enough to include us.

(I don't care much for his meat sauce. The tomato sauce comes from a jar. He browns up meat to add to it, and then he adds a HEAP of sugar to it. Oh well, I'll eat it an be thankful. I hate the end of the month.)
