As a half ass cook I'm making veggie soup bear creek brand

I put this out for those of us lack time or skills for quick meal. Bear creek soup mix as my culinary capabilities are limited or I’m just lazy compared to my wife’s culinary skills which are to say the least awesome .

Now I’ve done the bear creek potato soup. And to spice it up I’ve added home fries Swiss cheese about pound and tons off chopped ham and diced onions heavy cream or skim milk it came out ok as in the troops wolfed it down and has been well received again.

Today with veggies soup I’ve added a lot of browned beef tips beef broth and rest water can of diced tomatoes and I have extra carrots and diced onions.

Now I’m debating whether to ad rice or Dutch noodles. Oh and I have homemade bread like my grandma used make. I didn’t make it the store baker made it just to clarify.

If left in soup (assuming you are going to not eat it all, but put it into the fridge for a later meal) the rice/noodles will absorb the broth making the soup thick and starchy. In other words, make your soup, make the noodles, put soup in bowl , add the rice/noodles.

You sound like a good cook to me, not the kind you said. My go to brand of soup mix is Manischewitz brand. I always add some fresh chopped, vegetables.

My only problem is they are a little salty sometimes. My husband can't tell the difference between my homemade and those starter kits.

Throw in some real protein (legumes, meat fish) and some veggies that haven't been salted and sauced to death and you'll be just fine.

I say this because I'm making slumgullion today and my recipe calls for a can of Mother Campbell's tomato soup and it tastes weird if I use any sort of tomato alternative, from home canned to jarred sauce. I'm going to put in a hefty squeeze of Sriracha, another prepared food.

You can make your own mayo and ketchup and they will both be better than the commercial stuff, but you will be spending all your time in the kitchen. If that's where your bliss is, that's fine. If you do other things, the convenience stuff has its place.

I draw the line at salad dressings. Those take 2 seconds so I make those.
