Experimenting... can I have your thoughts?

I'm baking a chocolate cake. I have 1/2 can of "white" frosting. I'm thinking it might not be enough to cover the 9"X13" cake.

Do you think I could mix in a few tbsp. of peanut butter to stretch it? Maybe use the electric mixer to be sure the PB incorporates thoroughly?

We eat dinner around 6.

I don't mind letting you use a fork, but you have to eat out on the porch. LOL

out of the oven and we have butter and huckleberry jam, so I don't really need any more baked goods.

if a layer, just put it all in the middle and don't worry about the outside

if a sheet then you might need to expand, peanut butter would help but personally I wouldn't want that on a chocolate cake. maybe some jam? what about just sprinkling the powdered sugar you have on it? do you have any old doilies around? you can use them for a stencil.

we used to just put some butter on warm chocolate cake when we wanted dessert in a hurry.

but I'll share anyway.
I always take my hand-held mixer and just use one beater and put it right in the can. With a firm grip on the can, I turn it on high.
It really increases the volume. Whether it's enough for a 9 x 13 I dunno. I do know that I can't emphasize "firm grip on can" nearly enough.
How'd your cake and frosting turn out?

Reminds me that there's a way to bake a half-box of cake.
