It worked!
Put your eggs (I did 6) in the basket and air fry 17 min or so at 270. Immediately put the eggs in a bowl of ice and ice water for 5 min, then peel. The shells will slip right off. The cold water bath makes the eggs shrink a bit from the shell making them easy to peel.
The grandkids love hard boiled eggs and we love egg salad so Ill be doing this a lot.

(38,601 posts)So today I made them in a pot of water the old fashioned way.
If I can find an egg piercer, Ill probably try the air fryer again.

(14,559 posts)1/4 inch water in a pot with close fitting lid, bring to boil, gently put room temperature eggs in the pot and cover for 11 minutes (for me). One egg or a dozen the time stays the same. You might vary the time by a minute either way for your altitude and taste. Transfer to cold/ice water.
This is exceptionally consistent and you can get the yolk set to your personal taste with a little experimentation. 1/4 inch water boils a lot faster than a pot full of water and eggs. I eat at least half dozen boiled eggs a week. Hmm, think I'll get one now . . .

(10,251 posts)the shell? Since youre experimenting, have you tried baking them in the oven?
I go the easiest and fastest route and boil the eggs in a saucepan (with water) on the stove. Works every time.
