Related: About this forumQuestion for home canners - price increase
After putting up a batch of stock yesterday, I'm down to my last package of mason jar lids. So I went on Amazon to order some more - and the price is up by a factor of 6 or more since I last bought them! I'm used to paying ~$0.10 each for them - now the cheapest I can find are about $0.60 each. When did this happen, and why? Surge in the number of canners? Trump's tariffs?
It's been about a year since I bought any, as I buy in large quantities, but it still seems like a steep increase.

(4,682 posts)I didn't know this. I'm not surprised.
Edit to add: Target has a box of 12 lids and bands for $3.79, plus a 5% discount if paying with Target card. Maybe I'll stock up.

(38,958 posts)Amazon has gotten rather pricey since March, along with much slower. I would seriously look around for alternatives and use Amazon as a vendor of last resort. They have selection and are a good place to window shop, but in my opinion are not the best option for most of what I am ordering of late.

(3,284 posts)They do jump pretty drastically. One thing to try is to put them in your shopping cart for a few days and see if you get an alert about the price going down.

(55,032 posts)and never enough jars, don't think I have ever bought them extra. I do buy the plastic ones for leftover storage.
