What's for Dinner, Thurs., Oct. 22, 2020

Tacos. The RG made his own seasoning mix.

Now later--for the debate, we're having vegetarian items. Maybe a pizza with broccoli and peppers. Also something with Swiss chard. Not sure yet.

Dessert is my non-sweetened brownies and a new kind of pudding the RG found at the store on this morning's trip. It is in little glass jars; they are so adorable I keep the jars and use them for storing small amounts of spices, herbs, dressings, etc.

Hot apple cider to drink.

We unearthed these in the freezer yesterday, they are from the little store butcher.

I baked them five hours after an overnight rub of garlic powder, salt, and pepper. During the last hour and a half they were basted with a sauce made from off the shelf sauces (2/3 honey BBQ sauce, 1/3 hot wings sauce) and some apple cider vinegar.

I haven't planned further, but there are some leftovers that need eating. Namely baby spinach plus garden veggies salad and some mac and cheese.

FLFC has been snoozing on the couch most of the day, he seemd tired today. After I pulled the ribs from the oven he appeared wide awake in the kitchen to see what was up. Apparently his nose works well. I think they were too spicy for him, because he spit his samples out and demanded more. I ate the outsides of two ribs and he ate the insides, a compromise that worked well for each of us.

all cooked in a skillet on the stove top. The rice was loaded w/ veggies (onions, carrots, broccoli, peppers, mushrooms and garlic).

dressed cherry tomatoes

I didn't make dessert.

I made a tortiere (a pork and potato pie, popular in Canada) for my dad and delivered it to him straight from the oven. It's something my mom used to make, often for Christmas Eve. I made it just the way she used to, and though of her the whole time.

Daughter (25) did the cooking tonight. Green Salad with homemade Lemon Vinaigrette.

Not bad at all, and I didn't have to cook it!

in butter and lemon with seasoned panko on top. Baked potato with sour cream and rosemary, sautéed spinach and garlic. About 5 min till meal time!

For dessert: Chocolate Chip cookies and milk. I bought two more packages of the Toll House Choc Chip Lovers cookie dough squares. Dang, they are tasty! It’s nice to bake just 2-3 cookies and have them hot and fresh.
