(56,896 posts)I'm drunk so I am sure I could come up with as wierd a combo as any old Sunset magazine recipe
one that really stuck in my brain was something like lamb and blueberries
seemed like they were the precursor to those chef challenge shows where you have a totally random basket of weird ingredients and you have to come up with a 4 course dinner

(2,888 posts)i'm going to have to risk Covid and go shopping. I've only got cream cheese, pickles and Turkey Pepperoni Mini's, BUT no crackers. I've been postponing grocery shopping too long.
but heck you are close there. are the pickles sweet or dill? you could almost do a "paleo" thing there the pepperoni subbing for a cracker. dab of cream cheese and chunk of pickle on top.
cream cheese with garlic powder, salt, dry parsley and any "Italian" type spices makes a good spread or dip.
if shopping though, get some feta, good olives, hummus (or makings), pita chips, more meat like dry salami, some grapes, green apples, hard cheese like parm or dry cheddar and whatever other cracker type things you like. dates, dry apricots are good too. and all this keeps forever if you don't eat it right away.

(2,888 posts)I will put them on my list. I better eat something first tho.
Shopping while hungry is a no no for me.
but you will come home with tasty snacks if you do. just nothing you actually intended to buy
I dont' have much of a sweet tooth so always forget sweets so don;t forget some deserty type treats too!

(10,142 posts)I make this every Christmas - cream cheese on baby rye, topped with a kosher dill round and a sprinkle of dill. Everyone loves it.
