My guy got me a few new kitchen gadgets this weekend

Two needed to be replaced--the kitchen timer (the battery kept falling out) and my hand mixer (one of the beaters stopped rotating).

The other was a food scale, which has long been on my wish list.

I have one more that I'm hoping for--a tart pan. I saw this recipe for an Orange-chocolate tart that I would like to try. (I think I saw it on Milk Street TV.)

When my sister and I were young, our Mom would always purchase 3 of the same cookbooks every time she bought one. Whenever she would try a recipe, she would make notes in all 3 like add more cream, etc. When we were old enough to leave home, we took our cookbooks with us. Such a thoughtful thing for her to do and I treasure them.

You'll love your food scale and find that you'll be using more than you ever dreamed. A scale was on my wish list too and finally I bought one and now wonder how I ever lived without it.

Several weeks ago I also purchased an Instant Pot and am absolutely loving that too. I've made some super delicious meals with it.

One other great buy is a magnetic knife holder. I've placed it on the wall near the counter where i do most of my meal prep so the knives are very handy. Additionally using the magnetic knife holder has freed up precious counter space.

Have fun with your new gadgets!

at Amazon for about $12. I too, am a kitchen gadget junkie. The regular size tart pan just makes too much food for the two of us. They have other sizes, but these little 5 inch pans are just right and very versatile (a requisite for indulging my wish list) with many of the recipes I use most often.

I wanted these little pans because they can be stacked up in my instant pot, and used in the air fryer, as well as the big oven.

They will be used for quiches, my fave brunch or light dinner choice, but also for frittatas, giant cookies, tarts, mini cheese cakes, pies and scones. I can put a burrito size flour tortilla in one and put it in the air fryer to make a crunchy shaped bowl to hold Mexican salads or party dips.

I use the glass one fairly often, especially to make apple tart. I serve it in the dish, it looks so pretty. The other is a metal one with a removable bottom. I use it for strawberry tart, made with fresh strawberries.

I am still using my 40 year old hand held mixer, don't think I want a stand mixer, you have to either leave on the counter or get it out of the cabinet all the time. I make a lot of yeast dough and everyone tells me I need to get a stand mixer to use kneading attachment, seems like a lot of trouble.

My granddaughter loves her Instapot, I may breakdown and get one.

but I think you're right that it can be either burdensome to pull it out of the cabinet all the time, or it takes up counter space.
