Okay, I don't mean to be too much of a curmudgeon, so carry on with Lemon Cream Pie Day, but my personal opinion is:

What the hell is it with all these obscure titled days? Another marketing opportunity if you ask me and it rubs me the wrong way. I think it dilutes the value and impact of commemorative days. Really, what next? Tuna Noddle Casserole Day? Wool Sock Day? Ritz Cracker Pie Day?

Oy!!!! Make it stop.

All over the world, we celebrate our common humanity.

Of course, just like with lemon cream pie day, one is not obligated to celebrate at all.

It is clear that it is I who have offended you. I'm sorry. Please don't stop posting on my account. Others may love these posts. The whole concept just bugs me personally, but that is just me. It was meant as a light-hearted reaction from one person and certainly not an attempt to censure you. Please carry on. It is okay that it is not my thing and others like it, right? Please accept my apology. Again, I'm sorry. I didn't realize I would offend in the way I did.

or I will be sad. I love the not-so-obscure days. I really, really want some Lemon Cream Pie, so refreshing after Thanksgiving.

Keep posting!

Yeah, the creators of these days may have had commercial interests in mind, but I simply like the idea of saluting a different sort of food each day. Sometimes it even gives me inspiration for dinner, when all inspiration is gone.

And today's celebration is perfectly timed! I promised I would make a lemon pie for Thanksgiving weekend. I need to get to baking this afternoon.

And these "days" probably come from some self-appointed marketing boards pushing their clients' products. I wonder when we'll see "Liver and Onions day" or "tripe day"

This is the last one.

I simply hoped to inject a bit of fun with a lighthearted addition of an odd holiday, but apparently it is considered a marketing ploy of some sort, so I will not do any further ones so that I might not offend anyone.

I would beg you to reconsider. The person who was "offended" by your post hasn't even been on DU that long to be a force of nature. You should definitely not be cowed into submission especially on a cooking forum.

We LOVE you

Don't care about the marketing, but I do approve of sharing. Also of pie.
So.

My opinion, less sugar + more lemon = better.
Squeeze lemon juice beside the slice, it's very nice.

I agree with Sherman. Be safe with this stuff!

Many foods are designated by states or towns made famous for the food and some are probably the idea of a marketing firm, but so what? It is always interesting to know what types of food are out there.

Years ago, back when the internet first started, I had a monthly newsletter (cooking) and had several thousand subscribers. One month, I got a hateful post, said everything I wrote was bad and silly and I was full of myself. Made me feel bad for about 30 seconds. I think there are some people who feel so bad about themselves that the only way that they can feel better is to belittle or make fun of other people. They deserve our pity and to be ignored because they are such sorry people.
