Asparagus sautéed in butter with mushrooms, onion, diced smoked ham, and a little garlic. Over jasmine rice. The smoky ham really tied everything together.

The asparagus and ham are leftover from Christmas, I was trying to clean out the fridge some.

I made a nice, big, dark cup of coffee with Coldstone Creamery creamer, even though it’s late. It tastes really good so I don’t care.

She made the traditional New Year’s Day pork roast with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. We have freezing rain going on, so I wasn’t able to make it over to her house. She’s bringing me a plate to work tomorrow! Her pork roast is soooo good and tender. Looking forward to it!

Appetizer
Raw oysters from the Outer Banks on the half shell with lemon, horseradish, cocktail sauce and Worcestershire sauce.

Salad
Romaine lettuce with cherry tomato halves and red onion rings topped with a light honey mustard dressing and garlic croutons.

Entree
Roasted prime ribs, (awesome meat from Allen Bros. Steaks, a holiday gift from my main client), dry rubbed with salt, pepper, cumin, garlic and then a butter rub. Cooked to rare-to-medium-rare delectability.

Side Dishes
Twice baked potatoes with sour cream.
Steamed broccoli.

Dessert
Vanilla ice cream, ginger snaps and a snifter of brandy.

A Personal Note
Happy New Year, NJCher! My wish for you and the RG is for a wonderful year of love and great meals. Thank you for keeping this daily food-fest going. It's a daily pleasure and I'm envious of your photos and spectacular food!

... childhood and include every condiment you can think of. Ketchup, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, tabasco, vinegar, brown sugar, cinammon, cayenne, black pepper... I'm doing this from memory. Sure to have forgotten something.

TJ took the rest of the bean soup to work with her.

I've just been grazing, using up things. Cotto Salami sandwich w/Swiss and brown mustard on whole wheat. Some pepper jack cheese sticks, pineapple slices, followed by a sweet potato with butter.

========

FLFC has been eating off and on all day and hasn't lobbied me for food this evening. He was complaining on the couch a short while ago and I took him in my arms (he's tiny), with the back of his head nestled in my armpit, and went outside to observe the rain. He observed the front yard and got big drips on his head. He hasn't whined for out since then. He's fading.
