And just in time for Christmas. Damn.
The terminals to the black wire weren't tight enough. They burnt and the cord melted down a bit. I filed the black off of the oven terminal and replaced the terminal block, the cord and the fuses. I also replaced the range receptacle.
The oven gets hot, but doesn't reach the full temperature. The stove also fails to achieve full temperature.
Any ideas? I have a multimeter. Is there any reason not to check continuity in a range receptacle? I read on the Internet that it could kill me.

(12,272 posts)The wires are very thick/stiff, so Mr. gut helped and misunderstood or spaced which one went where. The multimeter figured it out for me. Mr. gut is brilliant with computers and numbers, but not so handy other than being about the strongest person I know.
