tile backers- usg fiberock

i have always used hardibacker, and loved it. now it is hard to find here, replaced by usg fiberock. it says it is 98% recycled material, cellulose. i am finding it very hard to trust this stuff. i mean, it looks more like a sponge than cement.
looked up a couple reviews online, and found some complaints, but.....
anyone know anything about this product?

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
