Update on the roofing update

A few minutes after I hung up from talking to the company I've decided to use, letting them know they got the job, the guy from the FIRST place finally got in touch. He started talking but I cut him short and told him not to bother. I reminded him that he said he'd call in the morning to let me know when he'd be here, and then call again when he was on his way. He failed on the follow through which resulted in me wasting my entire day waiting to hear from him. Well, not the WHOLE day, but I was on a roll. His lack of concern for a potential customer's time resulted in me deciding on a competitor.

He didn't seem to be expecting something like that to be tossed at him. There was some stammering, an apology, some additional stammering and then a plea if I change my mind, to give him a call. I said 'Good bye' and hung up.

So, the one I'm hiring is on his way. And, he just called again to let me know he will be a little bit late, due to the freeway being backed up from an accident. Because he knows my time is important.

Honestly, all that first guy had to do was follow through and make one short phone call, this morning. I had already told the 2nd place (who did do a follow up call) that I'd give them until 4 this afternoon. He called at about 4:20, which was about 7 hours after he should have called, the first time.

We talked to three guys. The most professional one sent out a person within two days. He took measurements, asked what we needed, and brought samples. The other two farted around for almost a week.

You did the right thing! Good luck with the job.
