The weather has been most uncooperative but I think my new roof will be done, today

The thing about installing a metal roof - they get SLIPPERY when it snows. It's been pretty cold, too, so this project has taken longer than I anticipated, but it's not like it's been an inconvenience - just a little noisy. The safety of the workers is my primary concern. And Sophie Stinky Toes seems to recover quickly, when she comes out of hiding, after the workers leave. The extra treats and scritches probably help.

And I love my new windows and doors! I do believe the benefits will be well worth the expense.

Next project - painting, ripping out carpet and refinishing/staining/sealing the wood floors. I might end up loving this place so much, I'll stay for as long as I can take care of it, myself.

I know it was re-roofed in about 2004, or so.

As for the rest of the house, the only replacements/upgrade were a water heater, furnace/ac and well pump, back in 1985. The windows and screen doors I've replaced were all original. I don't even think the walls that weren't covered in wall paper have ever seen a new coat of paint. And don't get me started on the dark wood paneling in the den. GHAAAAAAAA!!!!

Never, in my wildest dreams, did I think this is what I'd be doing after I retired. I pictured traveling. Lots and lots of traveling. Oh well. Domesticity is a work, in progress, for me.

Tomorrow my year starts anew with at least SOME improvements!

Solstice Blessings to you, too. Or, as my ancestors would say: 𝘾𝙖𝙚𝙡 𝙃𝙚𝙪𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙤 𝙂𝙖𝙚𝙖𝙛 𝙗𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙜!
