Rhubarb pie crust always seems soggy so I never make it. My mom used to make a great rhubarb upside down cake, topped with whipped cream. I might give that a try, this year.

I've had trouble with termites eating the crowns since I planted it 5 or 6 years ago. It finally didn't come back this year. Going to start over in another spot - I think I planted it in a bed above an old tree root, couldn't keep the bugs out.

One of my favorite things to use it for is with a pork roast, in the slow cooker, with some brown sugar. The tartness of the rhubarb goes great with pork.

My mother made a great strawberry rhubarb pie and made other things with it that were really good. It might have been our Polish heritage. When I was a kid I'd pick some, wash it, and dip the end into some sugar and eat it like a celery stalk.
