However, never keep the head close to your legs. I was weed-wacking in a very tight space, and I wound up having the string cut up my legs, near the ankles. Nothing too serious, but I had some really unusual scars for the next few weeks.

Totally my fault.

I have several batter powered pieces of lawn equipment. I don't want gas, and corded equipment can be a pain. I have three batteries, since all the equipment takes the same battery. That way I am never out of power.

With the battery power weed whacker I find myself whacking in places never whacked before? Lots of debris flying around. Good buy.

I thought about that today when I was wacking away at some wild garlic. If THAT stuff should fly up and hit me in the face - yikes!!

But, congratulations on your weed whacker prowess!

An aside .... my hubby cut off his finger half way down when he stuck his hand down inside the mulching mower chute to unclog it.... yes, he forgot to turn it off before he stuck his hand down there .... I wasn’t home at the time but my son was, who threw Dad in the car with his hand wrapped up in a towel and drove like heck to get him to the ER in record time. They were able to surgically re-attach it, which was remarkable. This is one of his many “accident waiting to happen” stories ...

I was adjusting something and the handle slipped out of my hand, and a corner of SOMETHING on the tiller smacked into my head. I thought I had some tea tree oil but I was wrong. So I applied pressure until I THOUGHT the bleeding had stopped and decided to walk up to the health food store, just up the road. I figured maybe driving might not be a good idea.

Just as I paid for the oil and turned to leave the store, I felt the unmistakable sensation of warm blood streaming down through my hair.

Somehow I made it home, treated the gash, and went back to work. I doubt it was big enough to require stitches. Head wounds just bleed a whole lot.

Head wounds bleed like crazy. I’m glad you made it home after that terrible gash and didn’t pass out on the side of the road!

I myself have a scar from 3 stitches in my scalp from banging my head on an open locker in high school.

Almost as awful as how I first read the post title (I need a new prescription): "I dropped a rottweiler on my head."
