As I recall, blue or pink is related to PH of the soil. I guess that changes!

I adore hydrangeas of all colors, but think the purple is my fave. One of my hydrangeas is usually hot pink or fuscia, but this year is dark purple - much darker than the one shown here. I have a big flower bed full of hydrangeas, I have the 2 small purple ones, a small white one, a big dark blue one and a humongous blue one. Mom always had "cloud plants" when we were growing up and I have continued the traditon with her volunteers. They've been growing here for 30 years, so super well established in a great place with morning sun, then filtered shade the rest of the day.
